This is a very good article:

5 SEO Tactics that Will Never Hurt You

Written by Nick Stamoulis
Hand touching seo on search bar on tablet screenOne of the most exciting things about SEO is that it’s constantly evolving. While this certainly keeps things interesting, it also causes fear and anxiety. SEO rules are known to change which often makes website owners hesitant. They understandably don’t want to invest time and effort into something that might not be of any value in the coming weeks, months, etc. Or worse, could possibly end up hurting them. However, we don’t think you should fear SEO since there are plenty of tactics that will never hurt you. Our advice is to focus on those tactics, such as the following:

Publishing quality content

Taking the time to publish original, high-quality content on your website that will be helpful to your target audience will always have a place in a marketing campaign. For SEO purposes, every piece of content is an additional opportunity to rank in the search engines and generate inbound links to the site. In addition, the search engines take a site’s “freshness” into account when deciding where a site should rank. Sites that are updated regularly with useful content are favored. Remember, content doesn’t need to be “text-based only” either. People have different content preferences. It might be interesting videos and images that catch the eye of target audience members and earn links and shares. Focusing on target audience members, and not just the search engines, will improve bounce rate which is something the search engines also take into account.

Improving site speed

A slow loading site is a major turn-off that usually results in a high bounce rate. Your site needs to be fast across devices. If a searcher can’t get to your site quickly enough, where do you think they’re headed? Probably to a competitor’s site. If you’re concerned about site speed, talk to your developer about what could be slowing the site down. The Google PageSpeed insights tool is helpful. Also, be sure to invest in quality hosting.

Searching for relevant link opportunities

If you think “link building” is a bad thing, you’re doing it wrong. There’s nothing wrong with building relevant inbound links to your site. The key term here is “relevant.” Look for opportunities from industry related sites and build links gradually.

Social media activity

People group works at a table - Social Media Concept
Social media might not have a direct impact on your SEO success but it can have an indirect impact. Keeping active in social media and building up your social following helps to grow your brand online and shows the search engines that you’re marketing your website in many ways. While social links may be “no-followed” they are still seen and can generate other, non-social links on other websites that are followed.

Updating your website

SEO and website design are separate marketing functions but essentially they help each other. A well-designed site that is easy to navigate improves a site’s bounce rate and the overall experience a visitor has. If it’s time for a redesign, be sure to follow these website redesign tips for SEO.
SEO may be continually evolving, but there are plenty of SEO tactics that will always be relevant. Stick with these tactics and follow a white hat strategy to avoid penalties.

The results were so good that Home Depot quickly expanded the gardening and outdoor goods program to 2200 stores nationwide — and again saw 8X in-store ROI. Currently, Home Depot is also planning to expand the pilot to other categories, like paint and related merchandise.
"Mobile location extensions for display really proved their worth very quickly," says Umut Dincer. "We're able to reach do-it-yourselfers who are close to our stores and make a just-in-time connection that brings them the information they really want in their I-want-to-buy-it moments. We learned long ago that we serve our consumers best by matching their intent and giving them the relevant information they need. The results have been great.”

Mobile Apps are here and now..look at the facts!

Mobile takes the lead
Mobile is just another source of data that can be integrated to provide a more holistic view of the customer journey. More Google searches are taking place on smartphones than on desktops and laptops—globally.4 And across the millions of websites using Google Analytics, more than half of all web traffic is now coming from smartphones and tablets.5
But many companies struggle with exactly how to manage and integrate mobile data. "People are still thinking of mobile as something different," Sagnik said. "But we're at the point where mobile is the status quo."

A terstimonial from one of our valued customers

Customers really seem to like the website for the info and it does save me a ton of time of having to explain things over the phone…The web address shows up in a lot of forums as a good reliable source of info and that has lead to quite a few sales. I am also now getting quoted regularly in the forums for something somebody learned on the website…”If it is printed an a tech article or forum letter or by a newsletter editor or magazine editor….it is gospal…so say the  natives….”  By the way had open house this past weekend and had about a hundred people tour the shop. I used google chrome to beam my website onto my flat screen tv in the shop Lots of positive comments from the locals who had no idea I had a website as good as that….I had a couple of them write down you phone number as displayed on the bottom of the website pages..hope they contact you for a website…ya never know but at least you got some good PR…we both did well…Thanks Randy

Some info tidbits

More and more people use mobile phones to search Google and other search engines. More than half of searches on Google come from mobile devices. For example, for food and beverage sites, 72% of visits come from mobile sites....The answer make sure your site is multi platform, we can do this.

Local is even more important on mobile search
80% of local searches on mobile phones convert. In addition, 88% of consumers who search for a type of local business on a mobile device call or go to that business within 24 hours. People use their mobile phones to find local businesses when they're ready to buy. A good mobile website will help them to make the right decision.

Google: Search the primary and most often used mobile shopping tool"Google has quite successfully pivoted toward mobile over the past few years. [...] Not only is search the most used [mobile] resource, it’s the resource 87 percent of people turn to first. [...]70 percent of in-store buyers used their mobile devices for research before purchase. In particular, mobile search usage lead to transactions: 92 percent of those who searched on their phone made a related purchase

."Pay per click advertising: bidding on the competition: Is it really worth it?"These days, bidding on your competitors’ branded terms has become a common practice for paid search advertisers. To be honest, the logic behind this trend seems sound. After all, if someone is typing in a competitor’s business name, they are interested in what your competitor has to offer… which means they are probably interested in what you have to offer."

PR online releases

This week has been my PR release week for my customers. An online PR release is just like a paper release but it can be spread across the web to many different publications, blogs, and news services. The benefit of having one done is that you get your new product or web page or event more exposure. Usually a PR release will get you between 200 to 500 readers.  Is it worth it you ask, I say yes. Remember we use the full compliment of of sales ammunition. The cost varies from a few hundred dollars to about $750.00. If you have a special project or service you want to get exposure, e mail me at jrossini@rossini.com.

Applications

We have been writing applications for customers and one thing I found, it can be easy if you just want a one, two, three get me on there. It can be more detailed with more information. It can be very much more with detailed icons and some functionality interface to your own website. Finally it can be very sophisticated and pack a punch. I believe most fit into category one and two. For us category one is around $500 to $1000.00. Category two starts at $1000 and goes to about $1500.00. I recommend you start small and grow this application over time. You can get reports, you can add to the app, you can push out notifications to all of your users of the app.  These are just a few examples. My latest app gives contact numbers and e-mails, allows the customer to set up an appointments and allows for the customer to ask for help from different departments. There is so much more to do, let us be your guide! E-mail me at jrossini@rossini.com for more information.

A strange thing happened on the way to my e-mail!

Brenda was talking privately to a friend on Facebook. Brenda was talking about favorite Star Trek books. Her friend also contributed her likes.Of course both thought that their messages were private! A few days later Brenda gets a message from Amazon showing the same favoriete Star Trek books she had talked about!!!So what does this mean? It means that amazon was using a method called retargeting where they can track certain aspects of posts or messaging and then transfer that data to their automated sales computers and walla! Is this right? Do you like it? I dont but as a marketeer I know that most of my customers would like to know when they are being talked about. If you are interested, just let me know, we can help you!

I am also working hard on applications for your Android and Iphones. Imaging just letting your customers know you had special info to download. Or push out info to them just the special ones who use your app.  The possibilities are endless! Call me and I will tell you how.

The third quarter of 2016 is shaping up to be one of our best quarters in about ten years! We have added several new customers and also added new products. Visit our website for more information www.rossini.com

One new product we are working on is a scrolling video gallery. This can be updated by you the customer. Think of your salespeople in front of a customer and they can show a neat moving gallery! This is also neat for shows!

One step at a time....

Often we have encountered companies that want a lot more than they can potentially handle. I believe you should go one step at a time, do the first things first then move on to other more advanced steps. Review your website first and make or request changes. Once the changes have been done go on to the next step such as better internal SEO. Once the SEO is done then perhaps add a blog or a facebook account. Social media is important. Small steps first then on to bigger more progressive steps is the right way to go.

Watch out for quick responses via e-mail they can be taken wrong!

I am an Italian American and part of my lineage seems to be I can be quick tempered at times. I can also cool fast also. Sometimes I get an e-mail and I do not take time to comprehend but just fire away before realizing that the sender meant no disrespect. I believe that counting to ten before answering an e-mail might be the best thing to do. So if you ever get a funky e-mail from a person and wondered why did eh or she say that, just remember, they could be Italian:) and forgive them.
