Keywords

Targeted Keywords
Keyword usage has long been one of the most integral parts of on-page optimization. It has also been one of the most abused. Until fairly recently, the done thing was to target specific keywords based primarily on the number of search queries that they received per month. Today, the way to do it is to diversify your keywords and target a wider range of them. Long-tail keywords are also much more valuable than those consisting of one or two words, because they are more suitable for targeting exactly the right sort of traffic and there is less competition to deal with.

I have been saying this for a long time!

Responsive design what is it?

From Wikipedia:

Responsive web design (RWD) is a web design approach aimed at crafting sites to provide an optimal viewing experience—easy reading and navigation with a minimum of resizing, panning, and scrolling—across a wide range of devices (from mobile phones to desktop computer monitors).
A site designed with RWD adapts the layout to the viewing environment by using fluid, proportion-based grids, flexible images, and CSS3 media queries,[ an extension of the @media rule.
  • The fluid grid concept calls for page element sizing to be in relative units like percentages, rather than absolute units like pixels or points.
  • Flexible images are also sized in relative units, so as to prevent them from displaying outside their containing element.
  • Media queries allow the page to use different CSS style rules based on characteristics of the device the site is being displayed on, most commonly the width of the browser.
  • Server-side components (RESS) in conjunction with client-side ones such as media queries can produce faster-loading sites for access over cellular networks and also deliver richer functionality/usability avoiding some of the pitfalls of device-side-only solutions
Responsive design is all we do now or mostly do at Rossini Management Systems, Inc. Brenda finds that to do responsive design you are at least for now somewhat limited in the design look and feel at least for now. The really fancy programming we can do for a non responsive site is not yet totally available on a responsive site.  The SEO portion of the web site is fully available. I will tell you that it is very cool to see how your website can shift automatically to work fully on a cell phone.

Is this the future of web programming I say yes and it is here now so consider updating your current web site for it and if you do not have a web site make sure it is created with responsive design in mind.

Until next time

You can get leads and sales from the net!

I am a true believer that if done correctly and if you use multiple marketing ideas you can move forward and get sales from the web. I believe in social media, I believe in blogging, I believe in some e mail marketing, I use Adwords from Google and yes I even make telephone calls. It is not just one thing I believe works, it is multiple attack plans. I use PR releases, little ads in Craig s list and more. The goal is simple, get the phone ringing or the shopping cart shopping and away you go to success.

You do not have to constantly blog or post to social media but try to be consistent. Let people know you exist and what you do and that you do it well. If you have a product make sure you show it in its best light and push it. If you can get testimonials get them and tell people about them. Sell to your customer base and let them know that you are proud to have them as a customer and then try to see if they need more of your services.

If you have the chance post to your own website, make changes add pictures so that people see the changes. If you can not ask us we can help you.

OK enough for now, more to come later.

A tip to draw leads to your web site

Lead Customers to Your Website

One way to drive traffic to your website is to draw it in from other sites. Comment on high-traffic blogs and forums and include a link back to your site. Link your presentations, ebooks, videos and podcasts in directories and sites specific to that content. Try using sites such as YouTube, iTunes or SlideShare.

I also find if  you blog and do social media on a regular basis people will come, they will see you as a specialist. Tell others what you know and do and how you can help them.  Help them in anyway that might get you recognized as a source for them.

More to come.

Marketing tip

A tip from Manta:

Fulfilling an unmet need in your industry is a good way to boost your profit and stand out from the competition. Use social media, polls, or surveys to discover the gaps in your market. Use the information to create a product, feature, or service that your customers already want or need.

The age of the PC+

This is a neat article about a large PC maker that is making the switch: http://news.cnet.com/8301-1001_3-57598624-92/lenovo-rides-smartphones-into-post-pc-era/

Its only time!

Yes time, it is one of the things we all have in common, there are only so many seconds in a day, a week, a month, a year.  Is posting to social media or a blog a time waster?  Time is important to us all because if you waste it then they or it is gone forever.  Posting to social media depending on your point of view does take time but it can be very rewarding. You can become the expert in your field, You can be the go to person in a field that people will look to and call. Posting is just as good for you as it is to those that read your posts. So I say take the time, even just a little time and say what you want to say and feel, it can be quite liberating.

It can be fun to post to social media

I have talked to many people and they have told me that they do not have time to post to social media or a blog, it just is too much work. Frankly it can be fun to tell a story about your company, tell a success story.  How about telling the world about a new product or service. We often forget that if you dont tell someone about your company no one else will either. Shout your success to the sky and use social media! If you do not have time, I can do it for you and am doing it for several companies right now.
Let me help you!

Persistance......keep trying

It is my belief that when you are down you are about ready to strike gold. No matter how bad it is continue to fight, continue to sell and to market and network and sooner or later your efforts will pay off. It is like a roller coaster ride up one day down the next but you keep chugging toward that next hill and then sales come and success. Do not stop, keep pushing and you will succeed.

From General Joe :) Keywords and Adwords

Adwords can be very powerful to use to get direct leads to your web site. I have often wondered why owners that do adwords on their own and who tell me they got burned understand why. They get burned because adwords is not easy, it is a process, a constant learning process. Adwords changes and what worked last month may not work this month. Adwords offers options that can if you follow them make an immediate impact on your campaigns.  What is important is what you spend on your campaigns. Right along with your campaigns is your keywords that you use. Some keywords are so generic that by using them you are just trowing your money away. I recomend long tail specific keywords and phrases. I recommend thinking like a web surfer, what would they look for and type in.  You would not just type in dog when you want a Bull Mastiff dog. Be specific, yes your clicks will go down but the ones you get will be valid potential leads.

More soon.
