The battle to convince business owners that they are not web SEO experts

The battle is constant and ever on going and that is I get an owner interested in my services and then they go off to try it themselves wasting hours upon hours thinking they are an expert and taking away valuable time from what they should be doing and that is running their company. The smart ones understand that they should know about what I do and even can do some of it but they also understand that they are experts in their own field and let the pros do what they know how to do.  I can honestly say I know what I am doing after 19 years doing it and taking classes to be certified and learning the tricks and buying the software and even after all of that I am still learning every single day. It amazes me because I work hard 10  to 12 hours a day submitting my customers to the search engines, writing ads, doing adwords, doing Facebook and twitter posts and LinkedIn ads and more, I just do not see where spending $200/mo is not a massive savings to those that think they can do it themselves.  The bottom liner is it that those companies are fooling themselves those owners are cheating thier employees and themselves because they could spend so much more on making thier own company better and more competitive.

Ok off my high horse more to come on this later.

Until next time

Sales

I have often thought that I could offer my sales ability on a contract basis to a company that needed help. I believe one form of this took me to create www.marketyourbusinessnow.com.  I have been helping clients get leads, interpreting web statistics, submitting to the search engines and more. This is one way to hire a top flight salesperson such as me:) OK I am being a bit of a bragger but it is a cheap way to have one. One good sale and wow have you ever paid for my services. I also think however that a company can use a person with good phone skills to market and sell for them given the right set of circumstances. Everyone seems to want to drive sales up and make more profits so why not try a salesman that you do not have to pay any side benefits to because he is a full contract person. I believe I can help a business by making those tough calls for them and setting up appointments and if they are here in KC  perhaps even going on calls on their behalf.  Of course a confidentiality and sales agreement would have to be in place.

So the bottom line is, if you are seeking professional well trained help in the area of marketing and sales, consider contracting my services and watch your slaes grow!

Until next time

More on social media

Description: We have read many things about how to go social or how to engage with customers on social media sites, how to develop and gain customer insights. But this blog goes other way which says what you should not go for social networking sites. This doesn’t mean that there is anything wrong being on the social media sites. But it is just for the sake of your company reputation; coz everything has pros and cons. So here take a look at them of what should be avoided while being an extra social creature on web – Messages – When writing up a message like on Facebook and Twitter, makes sure the correct words are being with an easy derived meaning. Even if someone has posted negative comments on your wall posts or account, don’t reply in a same manner. Wall Posts – Use formal words in communication when posting up on a wall and when at the time of tweeting. It should not look like an individual is replying to a friend. Of course one can use some informal words but it should go in a decent way. Activities – Whatever you do whether it’s an update or a video it should not go beyond your company profile subject. It is because of the only reason that every company has a purpose of being in existence, so the activities especially when it’s online should not go out of context. Event parties – Give personal messages when inviting users on any event or on a official party, so that may prevent you from unnecessary guests. New Project Plans – Don’t buzz your new business plans and project work whether small or big on social media sites. That might lead to attention from rivals. Current Work Status – Rivals should not get an idea what your current status is on any of the running projects. Issues with Clients or Partners – Avoid any kind sarcastic or any negative comments related to any conflicts with clients or partners. Pictures and Videos – Posting personal pictures and videos are not recommended on individual accounts, coz it may lead to unauthorized and scam use. Do not Fake – Posting or commenting something about your company which is not true can easily be caught and might damage the company reputation on a big level. Crisis – If social media can lead you to crisis, it can also give many ways to cope with the crisis. I have written this with the only sole purpose that watch out your words when online; like saying be careful when speaking in public. All above points goes in only one direction that one should be vigilant on web. Arifa Raj The author is a business researcher with CheckBuzz, a social media monitoring company.

Can you get into the first page in certain search engines?

I have learned through much trial and error that getting ranked in the search engines can at times be difficult.  I do know one thing and that is you must have good content and change it. I believe you should have social media and participate in it. I believe in blogging. I believe that you should make sure your internal code is the latest and contains CSS and html5 and also good keywords and descriptions and titles.  If you follow my advice and then have a company like mine submit you to the search engines, you can get ranked under certain key words.  Remember that not all keywords will get in there because of the tremendous competition but you stand a much better chance if you do.

I am often asked what is the most important thing that can get me ranked?  I say good content and also a well written web site. The search engine spiders often hiccup on broken links or bad code.    I also believe people will stay on your page longer if it is attractive and is not just a lot of words.  Keep updating, nice pictures, some sizzle but do not make it too messy or full.

OK More to come.

New stats on search engine standings

New statistics: Google's market share at 67%

"Google Sites led the U.S. explicit core search market in January with 67 percent market share (up 0.3 percentage points), followed by Microsoft Sites with 16.5 percent (up 0.2 percentage points) and Yahoo! Sites with 12.1 percent. Ask Network accounted for 2.8 percent of explicit core searches, followed by AOL, Inc. with 1.7 percent."
Slowly Google drops but still the dominant force in search engines searches. I also tell people there are other search engines and many millions visit so I submit you to all of them!.

More to come!

Where is SEO and social media going in 2013

This is a neat tidbit:
This month, Econsultancy published a study ‘Marketing Budgets 2013 Report’ which looks into how companies are allocating their online and offline marketing budgets in 2013. More than 800 companies were surveyed between December 2012 and February 2013. Of the 800 companies surveyed, 71% of businesses plan to increase their digital marketing budgets and those businesses plan to increase their budget by 28%, on average.
What does this mean for you? Online marketing is an important marketing channel and will be growing in importance throughout 2013. Interestingly, among the various online marketing opportunities, content marketing is the big winner. 70% of businesses surveyed are increasing their content marketing budgets, putting content marketing in the lead. SEO and email marketing are close behind content marketing with 65% of businesses increasing those budgets in 2013. Content marketing and SEO work hand-in-hand to earn new customers for you.

I have been pushing this over and over...If you do not have a social media presence you must get one and soon. If you do not blog let us show you how.  I am firing away on Facebbook, Twitter, Google+ and LinkeIN daily.  I get leads daily and it is fun to get them. I can show you how visit www.marketyourbusinessnow.com

New guest blog from Chuck Intrieri about Supplier Day

February 18, 2013

HOW TO USE A SUPPLIER DAY FOR COLLABORATION AND MEETING YOUR GOALS:

What is a Supplier Day?
A supplier day is a concept where you bring in your main suppliers either by commodity or critical suppliers for collaboration and continuous improvement. You also tap the suppliers for their knowledge, cost reduction and quality improvement.
What process is used to begin a Supplier Day?
A letter by the coordinator who is chosen and each supplier is sent an agenda outlining hour by hour what will occur from 9am to 2pm. The agenda is set. Attached to that letter is a Value Analysis Questionnaire where you ask the supplier for questions on ideas they may have to decrease cost and yet maintain and never jeopardize quality. They are the experts in the field and they should come forward with some cost reduction ideas for you, if the right questions are asked (attached to the letter with the agenda on it).
Expected results
What happens is they would take your part that you would buy from them. They would see the part and if they could eliminate some processes in their plant to reduce the cost. They can see if other materials can be used. They can see if a standard part can be used in place of a specialized part. They can suggest finishes that are alternatives, rather than the finishes you suggest. They take a look at your specifications and look at alternatives to reduce cost but not jeopardize quality.
Benefits of Collaboration
Collaboration is the very essence to Supplier Day. You want to collaborate, trust and work with your suppliers. I believe there should not ever be a pounding on the table for cost reduction, but rather a discussion and systematic approach to cost reduction and collaboration.
You can talk about long term contracts. You can talk about trust between each other. You can talk about how you can improve continuously together and what their new products are and how that might fit into your future growth. You need them as much as they need you. It is a collaboration of trust and understanding.
How does it end?
After a plant tour and a one-on-one discussion with each supplier to review their value analysis ideas, contracts and collaboration. Everyone returns back to the conference room and the coordinator wraps up the meeting after the supplier has had a chance to speak and comment about the day's meeting. Before they leave he gives them the card that states you would like their input about the meeting; how it could be improved, changed or critiqued. That way, you can continuously improve the supplier day conference.
Mr. Joe Rossini can add a lot to this. He has tried a Supplier Day Conference and added his specialty to this Supplier Day Conference.

Guest post from Rambo Writes about content

When you create a website for your business or organization, you open a window to the world.  Potential customers can visit your site to find out information such as where you’re located, what types of products or services you offer, hours of operation and testimonials from satisfied customers.
Having a website does not ensure potential customers will beat a path to your door, however.  A website is simply how you make your first impression.  In business and in life, you only get one chance to make a first impression.  If someone comes to your site and finds poorly written content, bad grammar or misspelled words, you’re not going to make the kind of first impression that brings them back for a second look and you may miss a great opportunity.
Your website is a reflection of you and your business.  In today’s competitive marketplace, you can’t afford to make a poor first impression.  That’s why need someone who writes professionally to create your website content for you.  You know your industry, but a professional writer knows how to bring out your best by providing interesting, grammatically sound, error free content that will help you get an opportunity to earn a potential customer’s business.
I have known and collaborated with Joe and Brenda Rossini for over 30 years and there’s nobody better when it comes to website development and search engine optimization.  Add well-written content and you have the recipe for a professional and effective communication tool that can help your business grow and prosper.

A guest blog writer talking about video

r2 llc Video Services

Business owners pour their talent, time and energy, not to mention their hard-earned cash, into building a one-of-a-kind business—only to find out the real work is just beginning. Now, they are faced with the age-old question of "If I build it, will they come?" Often times, business owners find the answer is a lukewarm "maybe."

That's where video can make a major impact. Websites with video increase their search engine optimization results and their visitors stay longer than they do on sites with no video.

Tim Anderson of r2 llc helps small businesses tell their stories using professional Website video. The process is simple and highly affordable. Most significantly, adding video to your Website sets you apart from your competition, and it allows you to connect with your customers on a personal, face-to-face basis.

Looking at responsive designs

I have spent several hours researching the new buzz word responsive design. What it is  essentially is a new programming option that allows for the different devices to automatically size to the screen and pick up the code that requests it. Ok I am not a programming geek but that is it in its simplest terms.

Why should you have it? Well the industry is moving that way fast. The newer and younger and quickly becoming more affluent are all or many are using tablets and hand held gizmos.  It is to your benefit to have it and guess what?  We create those type of designs. An example of one of those designs is http://www.marketyourbusinessnow.com. If yu have a tablet or an Iphone try it.  You will see it plays on all three platforms...YEA!  Oh by the way that web site is also me!! I can help you get leads.

Well this was a quicky, more later.

The right keyword

From Axandr

High volume keywords usually aren't the best keywords
If a keyword is so competitive that your website won't get on the first result page then this keyword won't work for you. If you cannot make it on page one then it doesn't make sense to use that keyword.
In addition, keywords with a high search volume are often very general keywords that do not drive targeted visitors to your site.
A targeted keyword with a low search volume will deliver more sales to your website. If you want great results, don't waste your time on high volume keywords that will deliver worthless traffic to your site. Focus on long-tail keywords that are much more likely to convert.

I can find the best keywords for you!

Finding leads takes patience

When I started www.marketyourbusinessnow.com I knew it would be a constant work in progress. I am always adding, working on upgrading and trying to offer the correct solution for my customers.  What is unfortunately seems to be a constant effect of this site is that my customers are very very  quick on the draw.  What that means everyone wants immediate results and frankly unless you really pay alot upfront it is virtually impossible to bring those results that fast.  What I want to say is and perhaps it is me I must stress that Rome was not built overnight it took time. What I usually can do quite fast is get your company name up high in the search engines. I can increase viability fast but leads take a bit longer. What needs to be done to succeed:

  • You must listen to my suggestions on the internals of the web site in other words if I say you need certain new keywords...add them
  • I really do want a company that understands that they are just as important to success as I am so please participate
  • Be willing to allow for 90 to 120 days for success to begin and it will begin
There is much more but remember a lot of things ar einvelved, the web page, your work and understanding and my work.  I can bring you what you want with time.

Until next time

A tip about Java and your web page

This tip is from Manta but it is becomming more and more important:

Search engines often have a very difficult time understanding websites which use Flash or Javascript to display content. Either move your important content into regular text or make a text browser friendly version to help with accessibility. Doing so will maximize the visibility of your content in search results.

Also Java has become more and more under hacker attack and we recommend caution if using it.
